Viva la Electronica presents Bar 25  Special

We are proud to present the legendary Bar 25 with a Label Showcase in 2012. The attending artists will be the best of Bar 25 rooster which also all played in the faboulus Bar 25 Club in Berlin

 

	Britta Arnold Her first excursion to producing, was in 2006 together with Matt John for the Silverbird Casino CD-compilation. The first live act followed shortly after in the summer of 2006 in the bar25. As if that has not been a challenge at all, she couldn´t get enough (experience) and startet managing the label of this well known and extravagant club. That´s what she has been concentrating on the next three years. Always close to the puls of berlin techno and minimal sound.
	Danny Faber Danny Faber has been a well-respected DJ in the Berlin music scene for more than ten years. He started out running his own underground illegal parties in Berlin, which gave him great opportunity to evolve and refine his style during many of his never-ending afterparty DJ sets. One thing let to another and eventually Bar25 was born. Danny is also by running Bar25’s successful label and booking agency he quickly made a name of himself within Berlin and around Europe. Releases from Matt John, Daniel Dreier, Audion and Acid Pauli have found the label consistently breaking boundaries.
	Beaner Beaner is a master at losing mobile phones and staying awake for long periods of time without the aid of stimulants. He enjoys masturbation, difficulty, overcoming odds, and tear-jerking finales. Together with C.L.A.W.S. he is WarVsSleep and is one third of supergroup the 3 Good Doctors with Agaric and Ed Davenport.
	NU A nomad of modern times, who has travelled the continents with his music, Nu is as diverse in his musical styles as he is welltravelled. Taking influences from his various homes, such as Switzerland, Germany or Peru, the producer and trained sound engineer branched out into various genres (deep house, hip hop, trip hop, ambient, experimental, dance and even film and dance theatre music composition). Through this years-long musical journey Nu then found his true calling: instrumentals amalgamated with his electronic production all held together through solid rythms.
	Dirty Doering Velten Doering aka Dirty Doering was born in Leipzig in 1978, but grew up in the Black Forest in southern Germany. He started DJing professionally at the age of 19, and soon followed his career to Berlin. He rose quickly as a part of the club and underground scene in Berlin, and soon the most influential locations such as „BAR25“ (resident).He created the label „Rauschenbach Music“ under which he producedes his own releases.
	Jake The Rapper A New Media trollop for a stint, although Jake has always been more of a jack of all trades. Trades like comic artist, tattoo artist, animator, niceguy and wiseguy. But the music has always been the vehicle to propel him down the endless one way street that is life.
	Niconé Niconé was created in 2007 as a clever symbiosis of urban club and fashion culture. Producing a minimal sound with a dash of humour, where Helena’s vocals set the outfit apart from the mainstream of never-ending minimal cuts, they are responsible for a string of releases shaping Berlin’s metropolitan nightlife, such as the low-slung Bar 25 hymn ‘Nur mal kurz’. With Alexander also responsible for the t-shirt designs they have acquired underground notoriety in the German capital and beyond. It’s fashion and music.

Viva la Electronica Club Tour @ Docks Hamburg

Viva la Electronica im Docks. Die Clubtour um eine der erfolgreichsten Radio Shows Deutschlands  ist zu Gast in Hamburgs neuer Pilgerstätte für elektronische Tanzmusik. Der Startschuss zur Tour 2012 fiel gleich im Januar im verschneiten Schweizer Örtchen Winterthur und am 18. Februar in Hamburg zur offiziellen Deutschland-Tour. 2011 war die Viva la Electronica Club Tour bereits europaweit unterwegs. Gestartet in Berlin in der legendären Maria am Ostbahnhof, bereisten die Artists ganz Deutschland von Bremen über Hannover, Magdeburg, Düsseldorf bis in das ferne Aachen. Auch im Ausland  gastierte die Tour wie zum Beispiel in Spanien, Italien und der Schweiz mit Gast-Djs wie Nick Curly, Lee van Dowski, Paco Osuna, Smash TV und Andreas Henneberg, um nur einige zu nennen. Am Ende brachten es die Jungs aus Berlin auf eine stattliche Bilanz von 62 Events in ganz Europa.

Das Line-Up im Docks soll keine Wünsche offen lassen. Mit Santé und David Mayer vom Berliner Label Souvenir und Keinemusik ist die Marke gesetzt für hochwertigen House und Techno Sound „Made in Berlin“. Abgerundet wird das Ganze mit Hamburger Charme von Miyagi. Die Residents der Tour Spedro, Bob Morane und Audífono komplettieren das Aufgebot.

A votre Santé

Es gibt wahrscheinlich keinen Clubgänger, der in den letzten Wochen nicht mindestens einen Track von Santé auf der Tanzfläche gehört oder sogar gespürt hat. Grund dafür ist der große Zuspruch von einer Reihe von verschiedenen DJs. Die Releases auf Souvenir Music, Keinemusik, Rekids und Cocoon schlugen gleichermaßen in den Genres House sowie Techno ein. Und dies zu einer Zeit, in der nur gute elektronische Musik gewürdigt wird.

Peaktime Entertainmen par excellence – das ist Santé. Doch bevor nach vorne geschaut wird, ist ein kurzer Rückblick nach Ulm notwendig. Denn von dort stammt Santé und auch wenn er jetzt ins Berlin lebt, wurde seine Single auf Rekids direkt in Ulm im Club Chateu Knarz von Radio Slave für das Label gesigned, nachdem Santé diesen Track als letzten seines Live Sets spielte. Gutes Timing ist eben alles.

Nicht nur, dass Philipp zur richtigen Zeit nach Berlin zog, um mit Ali und Basti Schwarz aka Tiefschwarz Feinabstimmungen für deren Releases im Studio durchzuführen, er betreibt außerdem mit Ali & Basti das Label Souvenir, welches Künstler wie Steve Lawler, Audiofly, Carl Craig, Ruede Hagelstein, Tiefschwarz, Adam Port und natürlich Santé beherbergt. Darüber hinaus bespielt Phillip auch Clubs als Live Act und verbreitet so den Santé-Sound.Atemberaubende Auftritte in Clubs wie dem Weekend, Watergate, Violet Berlin, Robert Johnson, Alte Börse Zürich, Winter Music Conference Miami, Electronic Music Festival Brüssel, 10 Days Off, Fabrik, Sonar oder im Rocker 33 liegen bereits hinter ihm.

So much more important than any of the parties, the interminable travel, magazine covers or cash, every great DJ should begin first and foremost, with one goal: to be the most avid collector. Honing down the multitude of records is his task, through unearthing and treasuring music, new and old; almost as a traveler navigating his way through the ocean of new sounds. It’s this constant drive for sonic exploration that’s responsible for Souvenir, the Berlin label spearheaded by the brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz, better known to the world simply as Tiefschwarz.

With over five years in existence, the label has steadily amassed an impressive roster of artists, forming a closely-knit family of upcoming producers around them, as well as working alongside some of the leading figures in contemporary electronic music. It’s also been a home for most of Tiefschwarz’s own output with the young label’s very first release being the single ‘Hey’ back in 2006, recorded under the brother’s Ichundu alias. Since then they’ve had a ten-year celebratory ‘Best Of’ compilation, an album ‘Chocolate’ and their ‘In The City’ label sampler. With a whole host of artists having released singles along the way, including names like Riton, Phonique and Ziggy Kinder, the label has now become home to a steady group of talented young producers, Re.You, Sante, Chris Wood & Meat and Ruede Hagelstein. Ruede himself recently released his debut album, ‘Soft Pack’ alongside his band The Noblettes, an electro-indie sound with an ethereal, downbeat version of his dancefloor anthem ‘Emergency’. In order to foster up and coming talent, Souvenir launched a digital-only label called Souvenirplus, and with plenty already on the cards for 2012 (including perhaps a much anticipated, new Tiefschwarz album), this small label proves exactly why Berlin really is the world capital for contemporary electronic music.
